Things That Go "K" In The Night...

The other night, I woke up to the sound of Naomi whispering, "ok?" (Well, actually, "k?") I had slept through her original question, but she was asking for confirmation of whatever it was. Her voice came from Neal's side of the bed, so I thankfully pretended to still be asleep and waited for him to respond. Until I heard it again: "k?" Of course, Dad doesn't wake up to kid whispers. That's mom's job..... Again, "k?" Oy!! How many whispers can you hear and not wake up??
Or maybe she is on my side of the bed..... So I opened my eyes - no Naomi. Ok, so it is Neal's turn. But still no Dad, and another "k?"
I rolled over to check it out. No Naomi. But another "k?" Weird. So I looked back on my side. No Naomi. Ah.... perhaps she has come in to our room and fallen asleep on the floor and is talking in her sleep. (It's been known to happen.) But a strange dream, I suppose, since all she is saying is "k?" (There's another one....)
I'm awake enough by this point to realize that this is weird - just weird enough to make me wonder if maybe it isn't Naomi after all. (She isn't on the floor, you see.) And "k?" again!
...
So, my husband snores. But not in the normal, consistent, cartoon-y "honk-shew" kind of way. In fact, I never really know what to expect from his snores. But if you can imagine, the "k?" was actually his exhale on a really quiet little snore.
We've had quite a few laughs over this one....

An Observation

William had a bit of commentary today that I thought I would share....

Apparently, humans are cruel. We go in and mess up animals' habitats so we can build malls, so girls can say [if you know William, insert his valley girl voice here], "Come on, let's go buy purses."

Holly Jolly....

We spent Christmas with Nana and "Grandpa". (He's been Granddad since William was born, but so has their paternal grandfather, so we decided to change it to avoid confusion!)

We couldn't resist this four-generation of women-folks photo op:

1. Mimi
2. Mother
3. Me and Sarah
4. Naomi and Leigha

We also went hiking in the forest. The kids had fun playing Tarzan.....

And we visited NASA's Space Center - way cool!! The kids had several profound conversations with this astronaut just before his tether broke and he floated off into space. Naomi has decided that she wants to be an astronaut because the lady giving the "Blast Off" speech said that the kids in the audience were the right age to be on the first manned mission to Mars. So, now Naomi wants to go to Mars.

Naomi and William both had fun getting to meet their second cousin, Leigha. Sarah and I were both kind of weirded out by being the parents at this Christmas gathering, rather than the kids who were being told to chill out. Time flies, as they say....

It was neat to be close enough to Mimi and Pa's place that they were able to join us. They only came while we were eating, though. Hmmmm.......... In this family, it's all about the food!! (How can it not be, with such great food around??)

It was fun for Mimi and Pa to get to hang out with three of their Great Grandkids all at once. (Does that mean "great" kids? We'll let them decide....)

A great time was had by all!

Like All Good Things.....

Alibis has come to an end. The cast on this show got so close - like a little family. We had so much fun!!! I can't wait to do another show - I guess I'm hooked. My work schedule won't let me do it very often, but one of these days..... Anyway, here is a shot of the cast after the last show.

And We're Off!

(Everybody's a little off.)

I refer to the play that I am in. (It is a little warped, so I guess even the Daddy-inspired commentary is accurate.)

Anyway, we opened this weekend, and despite the fact that I had completely lost my voice about 10 minutes before curtain, I think it went very well. You have four more chances to come see it, so let me know if you want to!!

Clean Up - Register 7

Oy! I didn't realize how long it had been since I posted.....

I logged on to tell a story about how well the kids were playing together yesterday. They were a little too quiet, so Neal went to check on them.
They were playing store. No problem.
They were using the treadmill as the conveyor belt. Not ... a huge problem....
They were purchasing each other.
Creative - I have to give them credit.

They're Creepy and They're Kooky...

The kids had their Fall Festival at school tonight, and I thought you might enjoy their costumes. I think they were a hit!!
(If you need help figuring out who they were, let me know....)
